The webcam captures the view of St Austell Bay from Higher Porthpean. The local cove, Porthpean Beach is sandy and sheltered making it popular for swimming, kayaking and snorkelling. Porthpean Sailing Club is located overlooking the beach. St Austell Canoe Club also meet at the beach. The coves within St Austell Bay are Porthpean Beach, Duporth Beach, Charlestown Harbour, Crinnis Beach (Carlyon Bay) and Polkerris Beach.
